TOTP2 Erasure Special Repeated This Weekend

The excellent Top Of The Pops 2 Erasure special will be shown for a second time this weekend. The repeated broadcast will go out at 1:50am tomorrow morning (Sunday 28th) on BBC2.

 

Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure Goes Gold In The UK

Erasure
's second greatest hits compilation Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure has officially reached Gold sales status in the UK. This means 100,000 copies of the album have been sold since its release in late October. The last time Erasure achieved a Gold status album was back in 1995 with the Erasure album.

 

Erasure To Headline Concert In The Garden Event

Erasure
are set to headline the Hogmanay Concert In The Garden event in Edinburgh on New Year's Eve. The show will take place at Princes Street Gardens, which is below Edinburgh Castle, and The Coral will be the support act for this one-off event. Tickets will be available from 15th November with the tickets costing between £25 and £30. Erasure's second singles compilation Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure has charted at #15 in the Top 40 UK Albums Chart. The DVD Hits! - The Videos has charted at #4 in the Music Video and DVD chart, while the Oh L'amour - Remix single is still in clinging on to its place in the UK Singles Top 40 at #36.

The official EIS Erasure website has been redesigned and revamped to co-inside with the release of the Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure release. As well as new features and content, the new look site also has the complete video to the forthcoming Oh L'amour - Remix single. Andy Bell To Appear On Never Mind The Buzzcocks

Hits! Tracklist Amended And Sleeve Revealed

The tracklist to Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure has been changed with You Surround Me being removed and Lay All Your Love On Me and Voulez-Vous being added. The sleeve for this release has also been made available with swan imagery and a return of the Chorus logo. The sleeve and full tracklist is available on Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure Discography Page. It has also been confirmed that the Hits! CD and LCD as well as the Hits! - The Videos DVD will be released in America on the 28th October. Meanwhile an audio clip of the Oh L'amour LMC Extended Remix is now up on the EIS website.

 

Oh L'amour Tracklisting Officially Disclosed

The EIS have confirmed the tracklisting for the 2CD and DVD releases of the forthcoming Oh L'amour - Remix single. It has been stressed that the release contains three distinct Oh L'amour radio mixes, each with different interpretations of the song. A clip of the August mix can be heard at the EIS website. New Single To Be Released 13th October

It has been officially confirmed that Erasure will release a remix of Oh L'amour as a single to promote the forthcoming Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure album. As with recent singles, Oh L'amour will be available on 2 CDs and DVD, with slipcases to place all three formats being sent out to fans on the EIS mailing list. The full tracklisting have not been confirmed but the CD will feature the single mix of Oh L'amour as well as two new songs, one entitled Love Me All Night Long (a clip of this track can be heard on the EIS website). The LCD and DVD will feature further remixes including those by LMC and Shanghai Surprize as well as exlusive live footage from The Other Tour on the DVD. Content Of The Hits! - The Videos Revealed

It has finally been revealed that the Hits! - The Videos release will be a double DVD set. DVD1 will include all of Erasure's videos from Who Needs Love (Like That) up to Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me), with DVD2 containing over two hours of extras including alternative videos, live performances and exclusive interview footage. This DVD will be released commercially in NTSC format via Warner for Canada, Mexico and the USA, with EMI set to release the DVD in PAL and NTSC formats across the rest of the world. International release dates are unconfirmed, but the DVD will go on sale in the UK on 20th October.

 

Hits! - LCD Details Officially Announced

The content of CD2 of the LCD release of Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure has been confirmed as an 18 track megamix. It was initially planned that CD2 would be acoustic versions of Erasure album tracks but UK charts dictate that the second CD must comprise of the songs from CD1. The megamix has been mixed by Mark Towns (www.markymix.com) and clips can be heard at the EIS website. The CD2 tracklist can be seen on the Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure Discography Page.



Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure Tracklisting Confirmed

The official tracklisting for the forthcoming Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure album has been made available. There will be 19 tracks in total, with 5 tracks selected from the post-Pop! era as well as a remix of Oh L'amour, which is believed to be the new single. Official: Hits! Album And New Single Out This October

After much speculation, it has finally been officially confirmed that Erasure will release their new greatest hits album in 20th October. Hits! - The Very Best Of Erasure will be released on CD, LCD (with a free bonus disc) and DVD. The DVD is entitled Hits! - The Videos and features all of the bands videos as well as an additional disc with over two hours of extras. A single will be released a week earlier on the 13th October, although the song being released has yet to be confirmed. More will be posted in the coming weeks.

 

Best Of Album And New Single Out In October?

According to playgroundmusic.com, a new Erasure single is set to be released on CD, LCD and DVD on 13th October, with the Best Of Album to follow a week later on 20th October also on CD, LCD and DVD. Whether the new single will be an original song or a remixed version of a pervious hit remains unknown, but it appears the new Best Of album will be on two separate CDs, with one comprising of the aforementioned acoustic tracks. Again, this all remains speculation until official word from the EIS.

 

New Best Of Album To Be Accompanied By A DVD?

According to German web site e-lectric.de Erasure will be releasing a Best of album entitled A Little Respect on 22nd September. The release will be a double CD with CD1 being made up of Erasure's hit singles and CD2 being an acoustic collection of Erasure album tracks. However there is no mention of any possible new tracks to be part of this release. To accompany this, a DVD entitled Total Respect is set to be released which will include all the videos to Erasure's singles. It must be stressed though that until Mute or the EIS confirm this, this remains an unofficial announcement.

 

US Version Of Loveboat Released This Week

Bootleg DVD Of Milton Keynes Concert Now Available

Cancelled German Concerts Will Not Be Rescheduled

Following the cancellation of yesterday's Munich and today's Cologne concerts, it has been confirmed that these concerts will not be re-arranged and that ticket holders should seek a refund. The cancellations came about as a result of Andy suffering from influenza. It is still hoped that concerts in Berlin and Hamburg will still go ahead, but obviously Andy's health will dictate whether this will be the case.

 

NTSC Version Of EIS Concert DVD Out In July

Following encouraging pre-orders, Mute have confirmed a NTSC format of The Sanctuary DVD will be produced and will available from 7th July. Two New Tracks To Be Part Of The Best Of Album?

In a recent radio interview Andy Bell has stated that two original songs will be included on the forthcoming (but unconfirmed) Best Of album. It is further believed that one or both of these new tracks will be released a single. Despite being comments from Andy himself, until there is formal confirmation from either Mute or the EIS, this remains unofficial news. As too does the rumour circulating that EMI are set to re-master and reissue some of Erasure's earlier albums, possibly with additional tracks. Of course if any official statement is released in the future about either of these matters, it will be published here.

 

Make Me Smile (Come Up & See Me) Released In The USA

EIS Accepting Pre-orders For NTSC Sanctuary DVD

Fans in USA, Canada and Japan can pre-order the EIS Christmas Concert 2002 in NTSC format from the EIS website. As mentioned below, a NTSC version of this DVD will only be made if there is enough demand, which will be gauged exclusively through the number of pre-orders made via the EIS site. First Full-Length Erasure DVD Out 5th May

After many months of waiting, Erasure's first concert DVD release will be out from Monday 5th May. The EIS Christmas Concert 2002 DVD features all the songs performed that night at The Sanctuary in Birmingham as well as including an exclusive interview with Andy and Vince. The DVD is in windscreen (16:9 anamorphic), mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound and is an All Region PAL format release. A NTSC version will be released at a later date if there is sufficient demand. The show airs on Friday 18th at 7:30pm (GMT) on BBC1, and is repeated in the early hours of Sunday 20th at 2:10am (GMT), again on BBC1.

Loveboat Finally To Be Released In America?

According to the release schedule of Mute North America, Loveboat is to be finally released in America after a near three year delay on 17th June. Although there has been no official word from the EIS regarding this, it is reported that Dan Frampton, who produced the radio mix of current single Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me), has been commissioned to do a remix of Freedom. It is also rumoured that the US version of Loveboat will also be re-mastered and include new tracks and/or remixes.

Erasure TOTP2 Special On BBC2

There will be a Top of The Pops 2 Erasure special broadcast tomorrow (Wednesday 9th April) on BBC2 at 6:20pm (GMT). The special was filmed in January after the success of the Solsbury Hill single and sees Erasure perform a total of 6 old and new classic songs. More details can be found on the TOTP website.

An interview with Andy on the energychicargo web site states that Mute are planning to release a new
  Best Of Erasure album in September entitled A Little Respect. The band are also planning to produce an acoustic album to accompany this, made up of various songs from all their albums that weren't released as singles. EIS Christmas Concert Photos Required For DVD Release

Mute Records are looking for photos taken during last December's EIS Christmas Concert in Birmingham to be included on the forthcoming DVD release of the concert entitled Erasure - Sanctuary - The EIS Christmas Concert 2002. The photographs can be of the show itself, the disco afterwards,  fans meeting Vince and Andy, waiting outside in the queue - basically anything that happened on the night. Photographs should be sent as attachments to eispic@mutehq.co.uk as jpgs that are no larger than 1MB. Please note that it will not be possible to include credits for photographs used, and it will be assumed that anyone submitting a photograph is giving permission for it to be used on the DVD. No payments will be made and there is no guarantee that every photo will be used.

London Concerts Rearranged For May 5th/6th

London Astoria Concerts Called Off

The two concerts at the London Astoria on the 21st and 22nd and the performance at G.A.Y. on the 22nd have been called off due to Andy not having recovered from the illness that saw Tuesday night's concert in Derby postponed. It was hoped he would be fit enough to perform, but sadly Andy is simply not well enough. The concerts will be re-arranged for later in the year and all original tickets will be still be valid. 

 

Derby Concert Postponed Until May

Tonight's Erasure concert in Derby's Assembly Rooms venue has reluctantly been postponed, due to Andy having recently developed bronchitis. Following medical advice, Andy will rest in the hope that he will be fit for Friday and Saturday's concerts at the London Astoria. The original Derby tickets will be valid for the re-scheduled date, which is Monday 12th May. 

 

Berlin Tour Date Venue Changed

According to posters scattered around the venues of The Other Tour, the forthcoming new single Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) will be released in the UK on 7th April. Once again the single will be released on 2 CDs and a DVD, which will include an exclusive new track, remixes by Manhattan Clique and Gareth Jones and the American Solsbury Hill video that was directed by Vince. 

 

New North America Dates Added To The Other Tour

German web site has published an interview with Andy and Vince on its website. Although only available in German, some English highlights have been posted to the Erasure.org web site which state that the Birmingham gig will be released as limited edition DVD for EIS members only, that Andy still wants to record a solo album before he turns 40 and that the band are again thinking about doing an acoustic album next "with old Erasure songs that are nearly forgotten, like Alien."

Erasure's new album Other People's Songs has entered the UK album charts at number 17.
Meanwhile single Solsbury Hill has left the charts after spending three weeks inside the Top 75.

On Wednesday 29th January, Erasure will be on German TV show Interkativ on VIVA TV from 3pm
 and on Saturday 30th January on Top Of The Pops on RTL from 5.45 pm.

 

Other People's Songs Released

Erasure's fantastic new album Other People's Songs has finally been released. It's the band's first album since the Autumn of 2000 and contains the Top 10 hit Solsbury Hill as well as 11 other fine cover versions. Available from all good retailers, including Amazon.co.uk.

New Uk And German Tour Dates Confirmed

Solsbury Hill Performs Well In US Charts

After the Top 10 success of the Solsbury Hill in the UK Charts, the single has debuted at #12 in the Billboard Top 200 Singles Chart. This is the only US Chart that is based on sales only and is a fantastic achievement for the band and the US fans. More chart figures can be found at Erasure.org.

Second Single From Other People's Songs Confirmed

After the success of the Solsbury Hill single, Mute have confirmed that Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) will be the second single to be released from Other People's Songs. Provisional release date is April.

Solsbury Hill Still In UK Top 30

Despite having now been deleted, the Solsbury Hill single continues to sell and is now at #25 in the Singles Chart. This is encouraging, as most of the fans would have already bought the single, meaning the public have warmed to the track too. This bodes well for the album sales of Other People's Songs.

 

North American Venues Added To The Other Tour

A Erasure have added 11 shows to The Other Tour which will see them visit North American cities from New York to San Francisco. This is the first time since 1997 Erasure have toured the States and Canada.

Andy & Vince To Perform On This Week's Top Of The Pops

Erasure will be forming on this Friday's edition of UK Chart show Top of The Pops, which is the first time the band have appeared on the show since 1997. The show starts at 7:30pm (GMT) on BBC1. Erasure will then be taking part in a live web chat on the Top of The Pops website straight after the show.

 

Solsbury Hill Charts At Number 10

Erasure have brilliantly registered their first Top 10 single since 1994's Run To The Sun, with their cover of Solsbury Hill, which has entered the Official Top 40 Singles Chart at #10. Well done Andy and Vince and to everyone who bought the single, it's been a very long time coming.

 

Erasure UK TV Appearances Planned

On the 21st and 22nd of January, Erasure will be performing on ITV1's lunchtime chat show Today With Des And Mel, which is screened from 1pm to 2pm (GMT). On the 28th January the band will be guests on Channel 4's evening show V Graham Norton (the exact broadcast time is still unconfirmed). Andy and Vince will also be the subject of a Top Of The Pops 2 Special, which will be devoted exclusively to Erasure hits past and present. The show will be broadcast on BBC2 although the exact time and date are still to be confirmed. The Top Of The Pops 2 website has an unrelated interview with the band, which can accessed through this link. More TV appearances are planned so watch this space for the latest developments.

American fans can look forward to excessive Erasure promotion by label Mute North America over the coming few weeks to co-inside with the releases of Solsbury Hill and Other People's Songs. Many major retailers are heavily promoting the new album including the likes of Circuit City, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Wherehouse Music, Transworld, Virgin, and Tower, with some smaller independent retailers set to offer a free poster with each copy of Other People's Songs. Many US radio stations have also been playing Solsbury Hill, which is all very positive indeed.

Erasure's superb new single Solsbury Hill is now available, but only until the end of the week. Despite Woolworths and W. H. Smiths deciding not to stock the single, decent retailers like HMV and Virgin Megastores are supplying all formats of this release.
